How to properly size nozzles for a surface cleaner

When buying a new surface cleaner, it is important to select the correct nozzles to match to your machine. If your nozzle is too large for your pump, you will not have enough water pressure to effectively clean your surface; you may as well be using a garden hose. If your nozzle is too small, you will create too much back pressure and wear out your pump prematurely.

A BAR surface cleaner is supplied with nozzles, but remember these have not been sized to your specific machine. You should:

  1. Identify your Pressure Cleaners performance - What is the PSI and litres/per minute performance of your machine eg 4000Psi at 15l/min
  2. How many nozzles are on your surface cleaner? Smaller surface cleaners use one arm with two nozzles, while our larger stainless models have 3 or 4 arms with 3 or 4 nozzles
  3. Refer to the nozzle size chart on page 168 and use this example

    Pressure:4000 Psi
    L/min: 15 l/min.
    Nozzles: 2 nozzles

    Find the correct nozzle size for 4000Psi at 7.5 l/min. (that is 15 divided by 2) = Order 2 x 020 nozzles
  4. Check your degree of spray. The degree at which the water comes out of the nozzle directly affects the performance of your surface cleaner, but there is room for personal preference in this choice. Most owners opt for a 25 degree sprayer nozzle when cleaning a normal flat surface. 0, 15 and 40 degree nozzles are also available, but these are for more specialized applications.
